| Australian
Fairies Artist Ethel Jackson Morris 1891 -1985
Ethel exhibited with the Victorian Artists Society
in Australia her work was usually singled out for praise in the critiques of the
day. Here exhibition profile
stand out in direct contrast to her sydney counterparts, for example May gibbs
who was the most professional trained illustator on the sydney scene never sought
an exhibiting career. In 1921 she held a solo exhibition which featured 75
pen and ink and watercolour works. She married
in 1930 and withdrew from the art world entirely and her illustrative carrer came
to an end and Australia had lost one of its most promising fantasy artists. |
